Music Lesson Scholarships to be given away!
Essay Contest Rules
- Essays should be 350-500 words stating why you love music. We want to know what makes you excited about dance or music and why you think our school is a great place to take your lessons.
- Entrants do not need to be current students of New Song School of Music. Only one essay per entrant, please.
- The following are the age categories: 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-adult. If fewer than 3 entries are received for a particular category, categories will be combined.
- A partial scholarship in music or dance (winner’s choice) will be awarded in each age category.
- For the 3-5 age category, parents will write the essays.
- For the 6 and older age category, the entrant must write their own essay.
- Entrants will not include their name on their essay, but on a separate sheet provided by the school that is to be attached to the essay. (Forms may be picked up at the school and are available on the website)
- Winners will be selected by parents at the school who do not have children in a particular age category. (e.g. if a parent has a child entering the contest, they will only judge essays for other ages, not for the age of their child.)
- Entry essays will not be given to the judges with student’s names on them so if a judge happens to know a student entering the contest, they can still be impartial.
- Essays must be received at the school office by Dec 15, 2010. You may drop off your essay or mail to:
- 160 Castle Drive
Madison, AL 35758
- 160 Castle Drive
- Winners will be awarded their scholarships at our Student Appreciation Day event.
- Winners give the school permission to use their photos and essays in school advertising.
- The school reserves the right to use portions of any entry’s essay in school advertising.
- Scholarships must be used during the 2010-11 or current Session. No cash value for any portion of the scholarship will be given.
- Scholarships are non-transferable.
